“CELEBRATE DIVERSITY BY PROMOTING DIGNITY, RESPECT AND INCLUSIVENESS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES” is the mantra by which proponents uphold equal participation of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) or differently-abled persons, in today’s dynamic society.
As the Department of Social Welfare & Development Region 7, conducted the Employers’ Forum last week , hopes were high in encouraging business owners to employ persons with disabilities. Verily, they were right when entrepreneurs expressed willingness to train PWDs on skills required, give on-the-job trainings and eventually hire PWDs based on performance.
Companies who joined the forum included :
Hopefully, this advocacy to mainstream PWDs in the programs and services of government and private sector will gain wide acceptance.
Corollary to this, is the conduct of Sensitivity Trainings and Simulation Activities , to prepare current working staff and accept PDW workers’ entry into the work environment.
This year’s theme “The Gift of Talent & Trustworthiness of PWD: Passports to Development”, hopes to promote the capabilities, skills and talents of PWDs to improve/uplift their economic status.
As culled from the PWD Schedule of Activities at the Ayala Activity Areas, hereunder are the skeds :
An information drive of schools and institutions for people with disabilities and children with special needs.
A photo exhibit of people who continue to rise against odds and inspire others.
A job fair for PWDs.
A painting exhibit by a young artist with Down Syndrome.
A fun run open to shoppers and PWDs.
A special parenting Talk in How to Overcome the Financial Difficulty of
Raising a Child with Special Needs.
A showcase of best talents of PWDs.
A Special Day will also be allotted tomorrow, July 23, by the Department of Foreign Affairs, for PWDs to apply new or renew passports at Consular Offices.
July 20 was also Registration Day for differently abled voters.
Care to come and support the campaign to create the culture of respect and inspiration towards our differently abled brothers?
We still have July 25 to prove we care. It is a joy to see them.
See you then !
